Dear Friend,

I am writing to you today, the first letter I have ever written to you, on behalf of my father - Dr. Robert H. Schuller.

It was Dad's intention from the very beginning for his message to be sown far and wide...to persons who did not have a faith of their own.

I was only 4 years old in 1955 when he delivered his first Sunday morning message in California. He sowed those first seeds of faith from the rooftop of a drive-in theater - a half a mile down the street from where the Crystal Cathedral stands today.

And, my goodness, just look at the good soil where those seeds fell and took root - in the hearts of loving persons.

In the 15 years between 1955 and 1970, his church grew to 8,000 members.

In an amazing act of faith - in 1970, the church membership voted to sow multiplied seeds by televising their exciting Sunday morning service.

Six years later, by 1976, our televised service, the Hour of Power, was seen by nearly 2 million persons in North America alone - EVERY WEEK!

Tens of thousands of persons were writing to our ministry weekly many with the recurring comment: "YOU SAVED MY LIFE."

Yes, the positive seeds of faith that this ministry has scattered and sown over the years have yielded an incredible harvest!

I am very proud of my father's faith-filled legacy and I am detemined and dedicated to honor and continue the positive ministry that he began and grew to amazing fruition - with God's help.

Recently, we announced a new and very specific, God-inspired vision that we now feel called to sow in our world today:

"To inspire and motivate people through possibility thinking to grow in a loving relationship with Jesus Christ so that they can become the persons God desires, dreams and designed them to be."

The spirit of this statement will be sown from the pulpit of the Crystal Cathedral through the televised Hour of Power in every message, every song, every anthem, every interview, every choral number and every scripture reading that you see and hear coming from our program.

We believe that we now have an exciting new and clear vision of our ministry's call so that we can maximize the harvest as -
America's Positive Television Church to the World.

So, we renew our conviction to reach persons with our positive gospel message who DO NOT currently proclaim a faith.

We want to sow seeds of God's love in hearts that are longing to embrace and be nourished by a life-changing faith that they have never known.
So I ask you today to help us scatter, spread and sow abundantly
these seeds of faith.

I don't know what you've read in the papers or seen on the news regarding events here at our ministry over the past few months.

I do know, however, that I am very proud and pleased that:

1) My brother, Robert, is now extending his outreach and Christ-centered values through his American Life TV Network, www.americanlifetv.com.

2) Robert's son, Bobby (my nephew), has begun a new church - The Gathering - right here in Orange County, California, www.ocgathering.blogspot.com.

My family and our ministry here in Garden Grove continue to scatter and sow seeds of faith...this is our God-given vision and we will answer God's call even when we sometimes encounter rocky or scorching soil along our way.

But we, of course, cannot do this alone. So, I am asking you today for your help.

Our Crystal Cathedral/ Hour of Power ministry vision and message are clear. Additionally, we have a strong and powerful platform in national and international TV from which to sow our seeds and send our message.
The greatest challenge we face right now is our cash flow.

We desperately need persons who love our ministry and our message to pledge to give monthly gifts over the next 12 months that will alleviate a great deal of the pressure we feel because of the television bills that we are currently unable to pay.

This is why I am asking you to promise to give $10 a month for the next 12 months.

Ten dollars a month will actually pay the cost to air the Hour of Power into 26 homes each month - yes, it costs us only 38¢ to reach a family in a home each time they tune in to the Hour of Power.

Will you please "sponsor" the sowing of these possibility-filled seeds each week with an additional commitment...a pledge...a promise...
...to give $10 a month for the next 12 months?

When you do, you will have a strong sense of knowing that you are making it possible for someone, somewhere to receive a positive seed of faith in his or her heart...
...a seed that God will nuture and blossom into an exciting and positive new believer.

In return, we will send to you a wonderful memento of your promise - a beautiful porcelain box with flower seeds inside for you to actually plant in your garden...or your kitchen window...
...a powerful, visual reminder for you of the redeeming faith that you have helped to nurture.
